Opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu and his wife Barbie Kyagulanyi Itungo marked Eid al-Fitr with members of the Muslim community in Washington DC, where they are currently based for international engagements.

The couple joined the Uganda Muslim American Association in a celebration that brought together members of the diaspora community. 

The event was part of a broader series of engagements by Bobi Wine following his recent travel to the United States.

Bobi Wine has been active in the U.S. capital, including meetings on Capitol Hill, where he has been advocating for international attention to Uganda’s political situation. His activities have attracted both support and criticism from different political camps.

During the Eid celebrations, the NUP diaspora community expressed appreciation for the couple’s presence, highlighting the importance of unity, hope, and solidarity among Ugandans living abroad.

According to party supporters, the event symbolized a message of inclusivity and cultural respect, as well as a chance for diaspora members to connect with their political leader during an important religious holiday.

Bobi Wine’s presence at the celebration comes amid ongoing political debate back home in Uganda, where his international engagements continue to spark discussions about leadership, governance, and the role of opposition politics.
