"Enough Is Enough, Stop War of Words with Dr Chris Baryomunsi Immediately" Janet Museveni Orders Muhoozi

A public disagreement between Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba and ICT and National Guidance Minister Dr Chris Baryomunsi has come to an end after First Lady Janet Museveni stepped in and directed her son to halt the online confrontation.

Gen Muhoozi confirmed the development, saying he would immediately comply with the directive out of respect for his mother.

“My mother, Mama Janet, ordered me to cease my war against Baryomunsi. Out of respect for her, I shall not pursue this matter anymore,” Muhoozi said.

The dispute had played out largely on social media, where the First Son and his supporters openly criticized Baryomunsi. At the height of the exchange, Muhoozi suggested that the minister would not retain his cabinet position in the future.

The comments sparked reactions from political observers and supporters of both sides, turning what began as a personal disagreement into a wider political conversation about cabinet survival and internal government dynamics.

Dr Baryomunsi responded firmly to the attacks, saying he would not be intimidated. The minister emphasized his political journey, noting that he rose from humble beginnings to serve in cabinet and was prepared for any outcome.

“As a Mukiga who rose from obscurity to cabinet, I cannot be intimidated,” Baryomunsi reportedly said, adding that he would remain calm regardless of whether he stayed in government or not.

The exchange escalated further when personal remarks entered the debate, including references to what Muhoozi described as “Peter Pan Syndrome,” while other online users dragged lifestyle issues into the argument.

However, the tone has now shifted following Janet Museveni’s intervention. Her role in calming the situation reflects her continued influence within both the family and government circles, where she serves as Minister of Education and Sports.

Observers note that this is not the first time Gen Muhoozi has stepped back from public confrontations after intervention from senior figures.

In previous instances, he has toned down his social media commentary following guidance from President Yoweri Museveni, Gen Salim Saleh, and regional leaders.

Muhoozi is known for his active and sometimes provocative presence online, where he frequently comments on political and regional issues. His posts often generate significant public attention and occasionally stir controversy.

The latest incident comes at a time when speculation about a possible cabinet reshuffle and future political alignments remains high following the 2026 elections.

Public statements about who may or may not remain in government have therefore attracted heightened scrutiny.

Political analysts say the decision to end the dispute may help reduce internal tensions within the ruling establishment and project unity at a time when the government is focusing on post-election stability and policy implementation.
